Elektrobit and Microchip Technology have announced a collaboration to simplify AUTOSAR -based software development for automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers using Microchip's automotive processor platforms . The initiative combines Elektrobit's automotive software, development tools, and automation capabilities with Microchip's hardware to reduce integration effort, mitigate development risks, and accelerate time to market for software-defined vehicles. As automotive architectures become increasingly software-centric, manufacturers face growing demands to shorten development cycles while maintaining functional safety, software quality, and platform flexibility. Pre-integrated software and hardware solutions can help meet these requirements by reducing the effort needed to establish the foundational software layers for electronic control units (ECUs). The collaboration provides access to pre-integrated AUTOSAR Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) software based on Elektrobit's EB tresos portfolio. MCAL provides standardized interfaces between the AUTOSAR software architecture and underlying microcontroller peripherals, helping application software interact with hardware through a consistent abstraction layer. By reducing required low-level integration, the combined solution lets engineering teams focus earlier on application development and vehicle-specific functionality. Elektrobit is also applying an automation-first approach based on integration-as-code. This method represents repeatable Classic AUTOSAR integration tasks as reusable, executable logic, enabling development teams to standardize workflows, automate configuration, and scale integration activities across projects. The approach aims to improve development efficiency and lay the foundation for future AI-assisted software configuration and engineering processes. As an initial implementation, Elektrobit has enabled its EB tresos AutoCore OS and EB tresos AutoCore Generic modules on Microchip's SAMA5 series of microprocessors. The solution is available for immediate customer adoption, while support for additional Microchip automotive platforms is planned as the collaboration develops. The SAMA5 platform integration provides a starting point for customers seeking to combine Microchip processing hardware with Elektrobit's AUTOSAR software environment. Pre-integrated components and reusable configuration workflows can help reduce repetitive engineering tasks and simplify the transition from hardware selection to software development. Initial market activities will target high-growth automotive segments in Asia, including the two-wheeler market, where manufacturers are increasingly adopting electronic control systems and software-based functionality. The companies also intend to address broader automotive opportunities across Asia and North America. The post Elektrobit and Microchip Simplify AUTOSAR Integration appeared first on Embedded .
