Worldwide semiconductor sales reached $517.7 billion in the third quarter of 2026, up by 24.1% from the second quarter, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). September sales totaled $172.6 billion, representing a 146.8% increase from the same month in 2025 and a 7.9% rise from August 2026. The figures are based on a three-month moving average compiled by World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS). “The global chip market grew substantially throughout the third quarter of this year, with worldwide sales increasing by more than 20% quarter-to-quarter for the third consecutive quarter,” said Michael Robbins, SIA president and CEO. “Year-to-year semiconductor sales remained strong across all major regional markets, highlighting the industry’s global reach and its indispensable role in powering innovation, productivity, and economic competitiveness.” All major regional markets recorded year-on-year growth in September. The Americas posted the largest increase at 191.7%, followed by Asia Pacific and other markets at 141.4%, China at 124.9%, Europe at 102.5%, and Japan at 73.4%. Month-on-month sales also increased across all regions. The Americas led with 11% growth, followed by Japan at 8.7%, Europe at 8.1%, Asia Pacific and other markets at 6.9%, and China at 4.2%. SIA represents 99% of the US semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-US chip companies.
