The Vox Power EIRE600 is a 600 W single-output open-frame AC/DC power supply measuring 127 × 76.2 × 27.9 mm (5 × 3 × 1.1 in). The Irish manufacturer’s latest model is intended for industrial and medical equipment requiring a compact power supply with a choice of cooling methods. It extends the EIRE series, which includes the smaller EIRE300, previously covered by eeNews Europe in 2024 . Vox Power EIRE600 cooling and power ratings The EIRE600 delivers 600 W continuously with either forced-air or conduction cooling at a 115 V AC input. When naturally convection-cooled, the rating is up to 450 W at the same input voltage. Conduction cooling allows heat to be transferred into a chassis or cooling plate rather than relying on a dedicated fan, although thermal performance depends on the installation. For short-duration loads, the supply can deliver 750 W for up to 3 s. The manufacturer’s datasheet specifies a 25% duty-cycle limit for peak operation, with average power not exceeding the continuous rating. The AC input range is 85–264 V, with continuous output power derated from 600 W at 115 V to 420 W at the minimum input voltage. Efficiency reaches approximately 96%. Medical isolation and control interfaces Four nominal output voltages are available: 12, 24, 36 and 48 V. The supply also provides a 5 V/2 A bias output and a 12 V/0.5 A auxiliary fan supply, along with remote sensing, an AC_OK status signal and an inhibit input. Standby consumption is typically 0.2 W with the main output inhibited, compared with 0.6 W with the output enabled at no load. The EIRE600 has 2 MOPP input-to-output isolation, a BF-rated output and provision for both Class I and Class II equipment. Vox Power specifies compliance with IEC/UL 60601-1 for medical safety and IEC/UL 62368-1 for industrial and ICT applications, together with Class B conducted and radiated emissions performance. The operating temperature range is −40 to +85 °C, subject to derating, and the rated operating altitude is up to 5,000 m. Protection against overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuits and overtemperature is included. The unit weighs approximately 390 g and carries a three-year warranty. The Vox Power EIRE600 is available through the company’s distribution and representative network; further details are provided on its product page .
