Google's cloud expansion strengthens AI business but strains cash generation

Google's parent, Alphabet, is turning demand for artificial intelligence into a larger cloud business. Still, its latest quarter shows that stronger operating performance does not yet remove the financial burden of building the infrastructure behind it. Cloud revenue more than doubled, while spending on property and equipment exceeded the cash generated by operations.
