A stolen Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card has been traced to an online seller in Brazil following the disappearance of a shipment valued at R$2.5 million (approximately US$470,000) from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport. Police recovered the card after identifying its serial number in an online advertisement, while investigations into the missing consignment continue. The shipment belonged to Oderço, a Brazilian technology distributor based in Maringá, Paraná. The company reported that two pallets of Zotac graphics cards imported from the United States had disappeared from the airport’s cargo terminal. The goods arrived on 20 September 2026 but were apparently removed from storage the following day, before customs clearance was completed. Stolen RTX 5090 identified through online advertisement Brazilian broadcaster Jornal da Band reported that investigators identified a Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 offered for R$32,000 on the OLX online marketplace. Photographs accompanying the advertisement showed a serial number matching one of the missing cards. Police subsequently located the seller in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, São Paulo, and arrested him on 21 October on suspicion of receiving stolen goods. However, according to Diário de Justiça , a court overturned the arrest after the man produced evidence that he had purchased the card through Mercado Livre for approximately R$26,450 and had requested an invoice. The court found insufficient grounds at that stage to conclude that he knew the card was stolen. The graphics card was seized by police. Airport cargo procedures under investigation Security camera recordings reportedly show two subcontracted forklift operators moving the shipment from the warehouse on 21 September. A third worker, responsible for checking consignments, authorised its passage through the terminal’s electronic controls. The goods were subsequently loaded onto a truck that left the airport. Further reporting indicates that the operation involved switching cargo labels to make the shipment appear to contain lower-value merchandise. Investigators have not established whether all three workers knowingly participated in the theft. The distributor originally described the missing consignment as containing RTX 5090 cards, although a later account of police records also identifies Zotac RTX 5070 and RTX 5080 models. The precise number of missing graphics cards has not been confirmed publicly. On 22 October, Oderço president Oderço Matos announced that the serial numbers of the missing cards had been cancelled for warranty purposes, meaning the products would no longer qualify for warranty support in Brazil or internationally. This does not mean the graphics cards have been electronically disabled. The GeForce RTX 5090 is based on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture and features 21,760 CUDA cores and 32 GB of GDDR7 memory. Its applications extend beyond gaming to rendering, content production and local AI processing. Nvidia’s wider RTX developments were also covered in eeNews Europe’s CES 2026 coverage . GRU Airport has confirmed that the disappearance was reported to the authorities and that the investigation remains under their responsibility. The distributor has also been provided with information about the procedure for seeking compensation. The post Stolen RTX 5090 traced to online seller in Brazil appeared first on eeNews Europe .
