Calix has introduced Subscriber Agent, a conversational AI assistant that helps people manage their home networks through the CommandIQ mobile app. Instead of searching through settings and menus, subscribers can use voice or text commands to troubleshoot Wi-Fi problems, manage connected devices, and adjust network settings. For eeNews Europe readers, Calix Subscriber Agent offers an example of how AI can make broadband services easier to manage. It also gives service providers a way to reduce routine support requests while giving customers more control over their connected homes. Calix Subscriber Agent Simplifies Wi-Fi Management The new assistant is part of the refreshed CommandIQ app, which is already used by millions of subscribers and can be customized with each service provider’s branding. Built on the Calix One platform, Subscriber Agent uses information about a customer’s network and connected devices to provide assistance based on their home environment. For example, users can ask the assistant to identify devices connected to their Wi-Fi, investigate unfamiliar activity, or help diagnose connectivity problems. The system can also recommend changes to improve wireless performance. Rather than providing instructions alone, Subscriber Agent can help users carry out network management tasks directly through the app. Managing Guest Networks and Parental Controls Subscriber Agent also makes common household network settings easier to access. Users can create guest Wi-Fi networks through a conversation, generate QR codes for secure access, and set expiration times. Parents can establish recurring internet controls without navigating multiple settings screens. Importantly, subscribers can review proposed changes before they take effect. The assistant also works with Calix’s existing SmartHome services, including ExperienceIQ for family internet management, ProtectIQ for network security, and ScamWatchIQ for online threat awareness. These services allow users to review security alerts, understand potential risks, and take action through the same interface. Reducing Support Calls for Broadband Providers For service providers, the aim is to handle more everyday questions through CommandIQ, leaving support teams available for more complex problems. Calix is also providing training resources, marketing materials, and guidance to help broadband operators introduce the new assistant to subscribers. “In the past, digital experiences required people to figure out what to do next. Subscriber Agent changes that. A new conversational AI experience in CommandIQ makes it easy for subscribers to address their everyday issues around their connected homes, simply by asking for help. We are infusing decades of network experience into our AI-native Calix One platform, so we can move beyond smart answers into taking relevant action. For service providers, every subscriber interaction is an opportunity to deliver exceptional value, strengthen loyalty and brand differentiation with experiences subscribers actually crave,” said Juergen Lindner, chief marketing officer at Calix. The Subscriber Agent launch extends the company’s Calix One platform, which serves more than 1,200 customers. Further information is available on the Calix website .
